Abstract |
This paper reports Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation on thermal flow of a fire tube in a pellet boiler. A model has been developed to predict the thermal behavior of gas and water in a pellet boiler by using the conservation of mass, momentum and energy equation. Convective heat transfer between the gas and water was calculated and numerical analysis was performed using Fluent CFD code. The effects of the operating parameters such as inlet air temperature and velocity, combustion gas, and baffle shapes on the performance of the fire tube in a pellet boiler have been investigated. The results showed that the thermal efficiency of the pellet boiler was predicted to improve in terms of the shape or length of baffle and the flow rate of combustion gas. |
