Abstract |
Rising oil prices and greenhouse gas emissions have led to exploring of renewable energy. Solar energy has been identified as one of the most dominant sources of energy alternating fossil fuels. Energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions from the universities in Korea have been increased gradually so that reduction of both is being required by using renewable energy systems. The annual energy yield prediction and suitable area investigation for installing PV module was performed in Kangwon National University (KNU). Based on the study results, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences 2 in KNU has a inclined rooftop with the angle of 33¡Æ facing south which is suitable for installing PV modules without frames. Investment payback period was calculated as 3.22 years. Other buildings has a flat roof, so investment payback period was computed as 3.60 years. Furthermore, multilateral study in terms of the unused spaces and an application validity of other renewable energy systems needs to be performed. |
