Abstract This study was carried out to analyze the effects of absorber tubes affecting on thermal performance of PTC
(parabolic trough concentrator) solar collecting system. Black coating on the surface of absorber tube and an
installation of polycarbonate tube (PC) outside absorber tube were investigated for the effects influencing on the
thermal performance of solar collecting system. Black coating on the surface of absorber tube had great effects in
compared with that without black coating on the thermal performance of solar collecting system. It was resulted that
an absorber tube with black coating had great absorption of solar radiation. Absorber tube with installation of
polycarbonate tube (PC) was more effective than that without the PC tube on the thermal performance of solar
collecting system. It is considered that an installation of polycarbonate tube (PC) outside absorber tube was resulted
in the prevention of the convective heat loss. Therefore, an installation of polycarbonate tube (PC) outside absorber
tube with black coating had the most effective on the thermal performance of solar collecting system.
