Abstract Interploid crosses were carried out using three diploid and four tetraploid grape cultivars to examine the degree of
triploid seed development. The rates of fruit setting was 7.4% for 4x¡¿2x, 21.7% for 2x¡¿4x, 74.2% for 4x¡¿4x, 83.6%
for 2x¡¿2x. About 77.7% of seeds from the 2x¡¿2x crosses and 70.5% of seeds from the 4x¡¿4x crosses were sinkers.
194 of 3,554 seeds from the 2x¡¿4x crosses and 428 of 691 seeds from the 4x¡¿2x crosses germinated. Therefore,
seedlings examined derived from crosses between diploid and tetraploid were triploid (2n=3x=57).
