Abstract |
The wine consumption market in China has been growing rapidly in recent years. The ¡®Yalu River Valley¡¯ strategy to promote the local wine industry was introduced in 2013 by the Tonghua City government. However, compared to large wine producing areas, wine produced in the Yalu River Valley has a small share of the market. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the competitiveness of the Yalu River Valley wine industry in China. This study used multicriteria decision making technique analytic hierarchy process methodology to identify each factor¡¯s importance degree with three hierarchies and 31 critical factors. The survey was conducted with the help of 48 relevant experts. The results show that production factor condition is the most important category in the priority list, followed by domestic demand condition, structure and rivalry and related industry. This study would be helpful to give a strategy to policy makers for developing small wineries in China. |
