Abstract |
In Korea, many upland agricultural fields are located in Gangwon province. These fields consists of weathered soils with high sand content. With this reason, soil erosion is very severe during rainfall events resulting in the decreases of plant nutrients, soil organic matter and crop productivity. To prevent soil erosion, many agricultural practices, such as contour plowing, film mulching, plant residue cover, perennial plants covering, vegetation cover and etc., have been applied to upland agricultural fields but these practices have limitation of economic or practical aspect in Gangwon province. This review paper introduced Polyacrylamide (PAM) and biopolymer to reduce the soil erosion at upland agricultural field as the best management practices (BMPs).
